Education
“Fear of the unknown is the greatest fear of all” -Yvon Chouinard, Founder of Patagonia
Our advisors make sure you are educated on each moving part in your financial plan. There’s a thin line between information overload, and giving the right level of context - our advisors strive to maintain that balance with every single customer.
Retirement Planning
“How much do I need to retire with my lifestyle?”
“What’s the difference between all of these different retirement accounts?”
“How should I be invested differently within each retirement account?”
We hear these questions all the time. It’s a nuanced and personal conversation that will change from one person to another. Let us help you understand your path to retirement.
Tax Minimization Strategies
No, we are not CPAs, so we won’t file your taxes and won’t give you official guidance on your taxes. What we do have is a wealth of knowledge on the tax implications of different investments, different types of accounts, and how you can leverage them to minimize your tax obligation across different stages in your life, and different levels of income over time.
Estate Planning
No, we are not licensed attorneys, so we cannot draw up a Last Will & Testament or other official legal documents. What we can do is walk you through the implications of estate planning and what you should be thinking about in relation to your financial plan.
Your advisor is the Project Manager of your comprehensive financial plan, and should be aware of everything that impacts your family’s financial situation—from buying a new car or house, to getting married or having children, to estate planning and philanthropy.
Keeping your advisor in the loop ensures that they can provide you with the best advice for you at every stage of your life. In return, your advisor will work to educate you and answer your questions to ensure that you understand all the pieces of your individual financial plan, including the differences between retirement accounts; how much money you’ll need to maintain your lifestyle in retirement; the tax implications of different investment options; and when and how to begin estate planning.
Investments
Investment Portfolios
Your advisor has access to an array of investment portfolios designed for your specific stage of life, time horizon, retirement goals, and legacy/philanthropy planning objectives. You will also have access to research about macroeconomic trends and global events, and their potential impact on your investments.
Value-Based Investing
Your advisor can help you to honor your values by directing your investments to Environmental, Sustainability, and Governance (ESG) aligned companies, while still keeping you on track with your long-term financial goals.
Alternative Investments
Alternative investments may pose more risk to your financial goals, which may or may not make sense for you. Your advisor can work with you to determine whether this kind of investment is right for you.
Insurance
Insurance is an integral part of any comprehensive financial plan. Options that your advisor can offer you include:
Term Life Insurance
This type of insurance remains in effect for a specific time period (e.g. 10-40 years) as long as you continue to pay the premiums.
Permanent Life Insurance
Unlike Term Life Insurance, Permanent Life Insurance doesn’t have an expiration date. There are over a dozen types of permanent life insurance, including Index Universal Life, Variable Universal Life, Whole Life, and more.
Annuities
This type of insurance protects your assets and offers health payments during your retirement, while protecting you from market volatility that can affect other types of investments.
Own-Occupation Disability Insurance
This insurance allows you to protect your income in the event that you are disabled and unable to perform the material and substantial duties of your own occupation.
